Nicolai K. Denykin, Age 10, Dimitrov, Russia

Dimitrov, Russia - Imagine losing the use of your legs and what that would mean to your mobility, independence and activities. Now think of what it might be like to not have legs at all.

Thats how Nicholai Kolya Denykin age 10 was born. Through God's merciful love caring people and technology are making life-changing measures possible for the 10-year-old Russian boy.

The Rev. Kathryn Adams met Kolya in 2006 when she led a To Russia with Love volunteer-in-mission team to the Renewal Orphanage in Dimitrov, Russia. The Rev. Mrs. Adams has spearheaded 17 mission teams to orphanages in Russia. Mrs. Adams is director of Protestant Campus Ministries at Youngstown State University; "To Russia with Love" is a nonprofit organization and extension of PCM.

The doctor at the orphanage asked if we could do anything to help Kolya, Mrs. Adams said. So the team of volunteers took on the task of bringing Kolya to America and having him fitted with prosthetics.

Lord, we pray for Nicolai and all physically challenged children in the world. Be their consolation, light and tender loving Father in this world and the next. Raise up generous magnanimous souls like Rev. Adams to assist them on their journey. Keep all your children close to your heart and flood them with your mercy.

Fr Richard Ho Lung, Founder of MOP

Kingston, Jamaica - The Missionaries of the Poor (MOP) was founded by Father Richard Ho Lung, a Catholic priest, in 1981, in Kingston, Jamaica. Father Ho Lung ventured into the depressed community in Kingston Jamaica, and listened and shared the struggles of the people.

Many of his earliest musical compositions came out of these encounters, expressing the cries of the people, both of joy and of pain.

Father Ho Lung always points out: The poor possess a joy that is pure and highly contagious, for it doesnt come from material comfort and prosperity but from the very gift of being alive each day.

We pray for Father Richard, all the Priests and Brothers of Missionaries of the Poor, as well as all those they serve. We pray for the Little Ones of Christ the sick, the poor, the dying, the homeless, the forgotten and all those who suffer and have no one to pray for them. May the Lord continue to richly bless their efforts to serve Christ in our brothers and sisters and all those in need. Let us celebrate the gift of missionaries everywhere by being generous with our time, talent and resources.

Ahmad Staples, Age 2, Brooklyn, NY

Brooklyn, New York - Ahmad Staples, age 2, and Dominique Rodriguez, age 20 are in critical condition after a suspicious fire - possibly set as an act of revenge after a petty fight - ripped through an illegally converted Bronx building.

Flames raced through the two-story West Farms home, which was carved up into a warren of tiny apartments, and trapped Dominique Rodriguez, 20, and her girlfriend's son Ahmad at 6:15 a.m., officials said.

Firefighter Steven Troche brought the woman and child to safety. We pray for their recovery and all those suffering as burn victims. The quick response of many firefighters and police save thousands of lives each day. May God continue to bless all those involved in community service who risk their lives for the good of others.

Yulisa, Age 10, Nepal

Nepal - Yulisa is one of the lucky ones of her village. She is learning to read and write thanks to Care and many relief organizations in her country. She is overcoming poverty one day at a time by the education she is receiving. Instead of becoming a child bride or being sold into slavery she will have a chance to study and work toward becoming self-sufficient.

There are so many girls like Yulisa in other parts of the world. Assist them with your prayerful support. Change the destiny of one child and you change the world. Pray often and be generous with your time and resources.

Lord, we lift up all those suffering from spiritual and physical poverty. Come to the aid of our suffering children. Be generous so we may be generous. Help us to be a blessing to all those we pray for today. We entrust all these intentions and those in the silence of our hearts to your mercy. Continue to triumph over evil with good. Help our children live their divine destiny in your tender loving care.

Phoenix Baker, Age 4, Louisville, KY

LOUISVILLE, Ky. Phoenix Baker is a bright eyed 4-year-old girl with a smile to match, and quite impressive for her age. Phoenix sat in with the big kids at Sunday School in church last week. "She was learning her memory verses and was kind of shy about it, but she wanted to recite them for me. She obviously had been taught to love the Lord and it's really exciting to see a child doing that," said Michael Troy Shells, Pastor of Baptist Tabernacle Church.

Around 2:30pm Monday, her family found her unconscious in the kiddie pool in the backyard of her house. Pastor Shells spent several hours with the family at Kosair Childrens Hospital.

"She's in very grave condition, and they're just hoping that she makes it over the next 24 hours and they'll know a lot more."

Pastor Shells says he's not sure how long Baker was in the pool before someone found her, but right now he just wants everyone to pray for her and her family. "I've been with all of them. They're just rallying around each other and praying, just waiting and hoping."

Lord, rally 'round Phoenix and her family at this critical time. Come to their aid with your healing love and unfathomable Divine Mercy. We also lift up all families experiencing life threatening situations. Be with them Lord, all our trust is in you.
