Isaac Jogues and Companions, Martyrs

Today we are praying for all martyrs and faithful souls of all religions and nations, who have offered their lives to bring the treasures of Faith in God to others throughout the ages. History is marked with the sign of their blood as they paved the way of the Good News of God.

Let us not forget our Faith has been purchased at a great price. Through the wisdom and blood of our founding Fathers and Saints we have a priceless legacy to share with all those we love and come in contact with. We can share faith, hope and charity because of the sacrifices they endured. Because of them we have the opportunity to know, love and serve God.

Lord, help us always to be thankful for your many gifts and blessings, especially the gift of Faith and the religious freedom to live out our journey in You. Never let us or our loved ones be separated from You, but with great confidence serve You by serving others so that they too may come to know and live in your Divine Presence. Lord, raise up new saints and martyrs to spread your Word and Wisdom so your Kingdom come and your Will be done as in our sacred past, in the Holiness of the present moment onto life eternal. Let us be one in our conviction that loving and serving you is all that matters. Our destiny is in your hands.

Through the intercession of Saints Isaac Jogues and John de Brebeuf, North American Martyrs and all Martyrs of the 20th century, we pray for all souls suffering in mind, body and soul because of religious persecution. May they be consoled in knowing You have triumphed over all evil through your Divine Goodness.

Albion Baby, 5 Months Old, Albion Washington

ALBION, Wash. - The Whitman County Sheriff's Office says an Albion man has been arrested after his girlfriend's 5-month-old infant was found with an apparent brain injury.

Doctors tell authorities the injuries are consistent with shaking a baby and after talking with Cranfield, police felt they had enough evidence to make an arrest.

Cranfield is charged with 1st Degree Assault of a Child. Cranfield is originally from Kentucky and had been living with the child's mother since June of this year.

In a news release Sheriff Brett Myers says medical personnel responded early Monday to a call that the child was not breathing. The the infant was taken to Pullman Memorial Hospital, then flown to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, where the child is in critical condition.

Lord, please protect our children from abuse. We pray for healing for all your little ones, the sick, the poor and the dying. Put an end to abuse and abortion. Killing innocent lives is a tragedy. We pray for the conversion of all souls contemplating violence. Help them to see all children as a precious gift of God. We also intercede from all the families suffering from abuse. We pray for your Divine protection, deliverance and intervention.

Archbishop Louis Sako of Kirkuk and Auxilary Bishop Adwok Kur of Khartoum

Khartoum - Auxiliary Bishop Daniel Adwok Kur launched 101 Days of Prayer on World Peace Day. The 101 Days of Prayer is an initiative of the Catholic Church in Sudan encouraging people of all faiths to pray for peace in the preparation for the vote on the political future of South Sudan, on January 9th 2011.

The appeal for prayer comes at a time of mounting political tension as debate intensifies between those - especially in the north - advocating a united Sudan and others pressing for separation.

Keeping the Peace through Prayer in the Sudan is being encouraged in all levels of society. All peoples and religions are being asked to unite in prayer to keep the peace and foster human rights through the voting process. All people are encouraged to stop the suffering, killing and violation of human rights. In a country ravaged by Africa's longest-running civil war (1983-2005), political and Church leaders have already warned that the days before the voting could test the country's Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) to a breaking point.

Chaldean Catholic Archbishop Louis Sako of Kirkuk, lead a national day of prayer and fasting March 1 in protest against the recent murders of at least eight Christians of Mosul. The heinous acts have led to a renewed
commitment to change through prayer and fasting.

Lord, we pray in solidarity with all peoples and nations seeking religous freedom and the protection of basic human rights. Bless their prayerful non-violent efforts which encourage prayer, fasting and voting for change. Lord, renew the face of the earth one prayer at a time according to your Divine Plan. Helps us to act and vote responsibly according to the dictates of our religious beliefs and moral conscience. Help us to change the world one prayer at a time.

Relief Workers in Sindh Providence, Pakistan

Sindh Providence, Pakistan - We lift up in prayer all relief workers throughout the world who are saving lives and rebuilding communities. Mercy Corps is just one of the many agencies working to help restore regions hit by natural disasters.

Mercy Corp is providing clean water and vital health services to thousands of families affected by massive flooding in Pakistan, which has affected more than 20 million people. Recognizing the size of the disaster and the need for people to get back on their feet as fast as possible, Mercy Corps will help the region restore, rebuild and prosper. As people begin to leave refugee camps to go back home, Mercy Corps will be with them.

The initial priority will be to get people the tools necessary to clean up their homes. In addition, we will begin an extensive cash-for-work program to get people back to work, get cash into the local economy, and clean up and restore community areas and infrastructure. Irrigation canals need to be cleared of silt, wells need to be dug, health clinics need repairs, markets need to be rebuilt and muddy walkways need to be cleared. These are the types of projects Mercy Corp will employ to empower families and communities as they rebuild.

Let us join our prayers with the efforts of all relief workers around the world. Lord, grant them the grace and resources needed to provide your spiritual and corporal works of Mercy. Make us each an instrument of your Mercy wherever we are. We ask for your blessing so we can be a blessing this day and always.
