Kate, Age 5, Phoenix, AZ

We believe strongly in the power of prayer and the ability of Jesus to heal our precious daughter. We are asking others to join us on this journey and fervently pray for our Kate. The road is long and unbelievably hard. We have 3 children, all who are intensely affected. Olivia is now 7, Kate is 5 and Will is 4. Please keep all of us in your prayers as we try to walk this journey of childhood cancer. Thank you.

As of September 29th Kate was readmitted to begin her 3rd round of chemo. She will be hospitalized for the entire round.

January of 2010 Kate finished her 5th round of chemotherapy. Her subsequent MRI showed there was still residual cancer remaining. She was then admitted on February 8th for her "consolidation" phase of chemotherapy with an autologous stem cell transplant. This equated to 1 years worth of chemotherapy in 6 days.

Due to the residual cancer prior to transplant Kate then needed to undergo brain radiation. We temporarily moved to Houton, Texas for 2 months so Kate could undergo 31 treatments of proton beam radiation to the tumor bed.

Kate finished radiation on May 24th, 2010 which finished her treatment for the Head Start 3 Study. June 29th, exactly one year from her diagnosis, Kate had her first MRI post treatment which was inconclusive. She followed it with a PET scan one month later which showed no definitive signs of cancer! 13 months of prayers. And one scan showing no cancer!

Kate had another scan early September 2010 which again left us guessing. There was a new spot that appeared on the MRI. We are currently waiting for another MRI to see if this is merely treatment changes, vascular changes etc, or the return of cancer.

Please continue to pray as we journey alongside our daughter.

Earthquake Victims in New Zealand

CHRISTCHURCH, New Zealand - We are praying for stability, unity and healing in many parts of the world, especially ChristChurch, New Zealand. Seventy Five are dead and hundreds are missing after the 6.3 earthquake rendered the city a scene of frantic search and rescue efforts.

We also are praying for the spiritual quake that has hit the Middle East, especially the country of Bahrain. Thousands of people are demonstrating and praying for their human rights, especially freedom of religion. Tens of thousands of people of Bahrain are living in a political quake of demonstrations and political upheaval. Young and old, women and children have taken to the streets to ask for political change so that they may have religious freedom and the right to choose their own destiny.

Let us pray for all countries experiencing unrest. Let us support them and be a source of blessing at this critical time.

Lord, we pray for unity and peace in the Middle East and for all our brothers and sisters who are suffering at this time. Unite all in your Holy Spirit that peaceful resolutions may be found. Mrs. Irwin, Malcolm's Mom and Aunt Shirley

Stockbridge, MA - At the National Shrine of Divine Mercy in Stockbridge, MA prayers for recently deceased souls are offered daily. Today Mrs Irwin, Malcolm's Mom and Aunt Shirley are all being remembered along with their loved ones. We all know someone who needs prayer today: our neigbor accross the street, a co-worker at the office, our friends at Church and the many people suffering around the world.

We also remember the recent victims of natural disasters, terrorism, catastrohic diseases and the recent demonstrators in the Middle East. At home or abroad we all have one thing in common. We all need prayer. May the Lord's mercy be with all those we meet this day as we strive to bring peace into the world, one prayer at a time. Thank you for your prayers. They are an eternal gift.

Coptic Christians in Egypt

Milan, Italy - In support of Pope Benedict's ongoing appeal for religious freedom, we pray for an end to oppression and persecution of all faiths around the world, especially the Coptic Christians in Egypt.

Pope Benedict has often spoken out against religious intolerance, but his condemnations have increased after recent attacks on Christian communities in several countries, including Nigeria and the Philippines, where churches were bombed during recent holidays. The plight of Christians in the Middle East has been of particular concern to the Vatican, which hosted a meeting of bishops in October to address the issue.

The concerns have deepened in recent months in the face of what clerics see as sustained violence. After a New Years Mass at a Coptic Christian Church in Alexandria, a suicide bomber killed at least 23 people and wounded nearly 100. In October, a siege at a Baghdad church killed 53 people, prompting yet another exodus of Christians from the country.

On Monday, the Pope cited a message to Christians in the Middle East that he delivered during the bishops synod in October. It is natural, he said, that they should enjoy all the rights of citizenship, freedom of conscience, freedom of worship and freedom in education, teaching and the use of the mass media.

The Pope also took Western nations to task for marginalizing religion and minimizing its role in contemporary society, and he called for dialogue between faiths to promote a common commitment to recognizing and promoting the religious freedom of each person and community.

Christine, Age 16, Denver, CO

Denver, Colorado - Christine, age 16, is left wondering: "Where is love?" after finding out she is pregnant. Her boy friend, family and school mates all immediately suggested an abortion. Christine panicked and confused turned to a friend at church who told her she knew of a free clinic where is could be seen immediately and review her options. She received a free exam and an ultrasound of her baby as well as counseling. Once she saw the ultrasound of her baby, she knew what she must do as a new mother. She would give the gift she had been looking for all along. She would give the gift of love. She would choose life for her new baby. Christine received support, love and information at a critical time in her life and it has made all the difference.

Lord, helps us to be life-giving people who share unconditional love with those in most need. We pray for all unwed mothers and all those contemplating abortion. Send them who and what they need to discern your holy will for them. Come to their assistance, inspire them with your Holy Spirit to make wise and holy choices in thier lives. Help them to choose life and hope for themselves and their babies.
