Rep. Frank R. Wolf of VA

Washington DC - Congressman Frank R. Wolf of Virginia asks our prayers and support so the vital funding for The U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) will be approved in the Senate. This Commission continues to be an important advocate for ensuring that freedom of religion and belief are an integral part of the United States's foreign policy and national security agendas. It achieves this in a number of ways. It provides unique data and candid insights into the dimensions and impact of religious repression and intolerance in countries worldwide.

Leonard Leo commissioner of the USCIRF shares: "Through its work, the Commission seeks to advance the visibility of and serious thinking about how the United States can best address the challenges of religious extremism, intolerance, and repression throughout the world. In short, we are committed to ensuring that the "First Freedom," as guaranteed by international human rights law, extends to all corners of the globe."

Lord, help us to be responsible citizens and committed advocates for Religious Freedom for all peoples and nations. Bless Congressman Wolf, Commissioner Leo and all those who work to ensure religious freedom worldwide. Help the 70 percent of the world's population, who are living without guaranteed rights to religious freedom. Through the intercession of all the saints and angels grant the human and natural resources needed to insure religious freedom for all. Amen

Thank you for your prayers. Please follow up with a letter to your representatives in the Senate. For addresses and contact information go to purpleletter.org. Know that your voice and prayers make a difference.

Berkeley and Bay Area Residents

Berkeley, California - Let us pray for all those effected by the earthquakes in the Bay area. The first quake hit at 2:41 p.m. with a 3.9 magnitude. The second earthquake hit at 8:16 p.m. with a 3.9 magnitude also. Both quakes were centered in Berkeley. There were no immediate reports of damages. The quakes were felt in the Bay Area, including Berkeley, Emeryville, Piedmont and Oakland.

The earthquakes came on the same day Californians took part in an annual earthquake preparedness drill at 10:20 a.m. Thursday. More than 8 1/2 million people signed up to participate in the 2011 Great California ShakeOut.

The jolt was felt almost 22 years to the day after the Loma Prieta earthquake struck the Bay Area during the 1989 World Series.

Lord, help us prepare for life's earthquakes and critical events that might lead us to despair or hopelessness. Increase our Faith, Hope and Charity during these difficult moments and give us the grace to pray always and thank you in good times and in bad. Please use everything we experience to draw us closer to You and help us to see your Divine Providence at work in our lives. Behind every trial there is your grace leading us to a deeper union with You. Help us to live abandoned to your Will and increase in us a deepening awareness of your grace and blessings.

Saint Scholastica, Patron Saint of Storms, pray for us and increase in us the power of God praying through us. Amen

Charles, David and Luke

NEW YORK, New York Children with disabilities are one of the most marginalized and excluded groups and suffer widespread violations of their rights, according to a UNICEF report this week.

Children with disabilities are often denied access to education and health care, opportunities for play and culture, an adequate standard of living and the right to be heard. They are discriminated against and treated as an invisible burden. In some cultures disability is viewed as a curse or punishment. A child with an impairment is blamed as the embodiment of past failure, inadequacy or sins.

UNICEF Executive Director Anthony Lake presented the report of the Secretary-General on the status of the Convention on the Rights of the Child with a special focus on children with disabilities to the Third Committee of the General Assembly in New York.

Lord, we lift up all children with disabilities and those who provide for their care. Inspire a deep sense of respect for all life especially for those who live with physical or emotional challenges. We pray for all leaders of Nations, Churches and local governments to provide children with a nurturing envirnoment with special focus on the protection of children from violence, exploitation and abuse. Lord of Mercy, we ask your Divine protection, intervention and deliverance for all children in need, especially Charles, David and Luke.

R.C. Dries Update

Phoenix, AZ - Carol Dries and family thank everyone for their prayers for their son R.C., who is suffering from a gun shot wound to the head. His mother shared this report: "We had an awesome MRI today compared to last week....miraculous really. After all the swelling went down many of the important brain centers are intact, whereas last week we did not know due to the swelling and it did not look good, his prognosis was bleak. Now we know his vision, speech, hearing centers are intact as well as memory for people, places and things. He will have to learn tasks that we all take for granted, but he will with therapy. He should be able to walk again with therapy, mainly addressing his weak left side. It is an uphill challenge that will take months and peak at 2 years time. This is a normal course for people with traumatic brain injuries. We are very pleased and thankful. They also cleared his neck for any injury and removed his neck brace. ....tell everyone their prayers are working and to keep them up!! Tomorrow they will take him off of the ventilator.

Lord, we thank you for all answered prayers, especially for the ongoing healing of R.C. Dries. Thank you for your generous love and mercy that surround us each day. Our blessings are too numerous to count. In all things, we give you thanks. May all we do, say and pray be for your glory.

In thanksgiving we pray: "Our Father who art in heaven hallowed be thine name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory now and forever. Amen"

President Obama and Government Officials

Washington, D.C. - As we were praying on possible prayer intentions, the United States Government came to mind. For years we have been searching the news of individuals in critical condition who are in need of our prayers. Perhaps it is time to pray for our Nation and its elected officials. It seems our economy is in critical condition and our government is still unable to balance our Nation's budget. Let us pray for our elected officials that the Lord would guide them with His grace, wisdom and blessings to better serve the people they represent.

Lord, we thank you for the United States and all the blessings you have poured out upon us. Bless our Country, our President, our Government and all the families that they represent. Help us to remember that we are a Nation under God with basic human rights guaranteed according to our Constitution and The Bill of Rights. Help us to be responsible citizens, who are engaged in the political process and support freedom for all by voting and letting our elected officials know about our concerns and views on political issues.

Lord, we pray for President Obama and Congress that they may work together to bring about positive change and fiscal responsibility. Grant them Divine Wisdom and grace to fulfill their office according to your Will and the will of the people they serve. We ask this all for your glory Lord.

P.S. Write a letter or send a prayer to your elected officials using purpleletter.org. Make your prayers and voice heard.
