The United Nations' Efforts for Peace

United Nations, New York, NY - The United Nations has called on all parties involved in the ongoing unrest in Syria to respect a planned truce.

According to Press TV, Reuters quoted Ban's spokesman Martin Nesirky as saying on Friday: It's important that all sides will adhere to this. We all understand that there is a lack of trust between parties and therefore we all understand that we cannot be sure what will transpire.

On Thursday, Syria's General Command of Army declared that the truce would start on Friday extending over the four-day-long holidays.
China has also called on the parties involved in the conflict to observe the truce.
Russia has welcomed the planned truce as fundamentally important. The Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said the expected truce would clear the way for a political settlement of the Syrian crisis.

UN-Arab League Special Envoy to Syria, Lakhdar Brahimi had earlier proposed the truce to take place between the Syrian forces and the insurgents fighting the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad during the holidays.
The Syrian government had announced that it would support the truce proposal only if the Western countries and their regional allies stopped supporting and financing the insurgents.

Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011. Damascus says outlaws, saboteurs, and armed terrorists are the driving factor behind the unrest and deadly violence.

Lord, we pray for world peace, especially in the Middle East countries suffering from the violence of war and civil unrest. Inspire all world leaders to seek unity and peace by promoting thr God given tenets of the respect for life and human rights.

We ask this through the intercession of the Holy Family of Nazareth and all saints raised to the honors of the church, who have fought and died for the Gospel and religious freedom throughout the centuries. AMEN

Duncan Oklahoma Little Boy on a Bike

DUNCAN, OK - A child was listed in critical condition following an incident involving a vehicle, Duncan Police Detective William Fitzhugh said today.

The Duncan Police Department received a call at 6:26 p.m. Thursday about an accident involving a child at the Forest Hills Addition and Second Street.

A car was traveling westbound toward Forest Hills, Fitzhugh said. There were some children heading eastbound, walking toward oncoming traffic. And there was a little boy on a bike.

Fitzhugh said some details cannot be released because the child is a minor and because the incident is still under investigation. Fitzhugh and Sgt. Steve Biffle are overseeing the investigation.

The investigation is to determine whos at fault, Fitzhugh said.

He has already interviewed the driver. Because the accident did involve an injury, the toxicology of the driver was taken and sent to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.

It could take a couple of weeks, Fitzhugh said about the test results.

Lord, you are the God of Mercy and Justice, come into the hearts of all those involved in accidental accidents this day. Comfort the victims, heal those who are suffering and
grant your justice to all those involved: heal the afflicted, console those who are sorrowing and grant justice to those who are oppressed by those who wound others who seek their own will, rather than the safety of others. Lord, we beg you hear and grant mercy in all situations in need of your mercy.

Lord, may your mercy prevail where arrogance and deceit have wounded others until only your perfect will prevail and your kingdom reign here on earth and in heaven. Amen

Ambassador Chris Stevens US Hero

CAIRO Ambassador Chris Stevens was still breathing when Libyans stumbled across him inside a room in the American Consulate in Benghazi, cheering, "Alive, alive" and "God is great" when they discovered he was still breathing and then trying to rescue him after last week's deadly attack in the eastern Libyan city, witnesses told The Associated Press on Monday.

Fahd al-Bakoush, a freelance videographer, was among the Libyan civilians roaming freely through the consulate after gunmen and protesters rampaged through it last Tuesday night. Al-Bakoush said he heard someone call out that he had tripped over a dead body.

Lord, remember your dead, Chis Stevens and all political unknowns killed for the unrest in the middle east.

Lord, remember your compassion on those killed serving their country as they sought to serve You. May your glory shine through their service and may you bless them for all they have done for others. Into your hands we commend our spirits.

A Miami University Student

Miami, Florida - A Miami University male student is in intensive care after being struck by an Oxford Police Department (OPD) cruiser. Around 12:53 a.m. Saturday, an OPD cruiser struck a male Miami University student at the corner of Spring Street and College Avenue, according to OPD.

OPD Sgt. Robinson was traveling eastbound on Spring Street when the victim and his cousin walked into the crosswalk, according to Sgt. Wickman of the Hamilton post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol. The traffic light was green and the streets were wet due to heavy rain.

His cousin saw the green light and seconds later he saw the headlights, Wickman said. He stopped, but before he could warn his cousin, his cousin took two more steps and got hit.

According to the only official press release from OPD, the Oxford Life Squad transported the student to McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital. After evaluation, he was transferred via CareFlight Air and Mobile Services to Miami Valley Hospital. The student has undergone surgery and is in critical condition.

Lord, we pray for all people who are suffering, undergoing surgery or trying to recover from a life-threatening incident in their lives. Through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother and all the Saints may the Lord's perfect will provide healing and consolation to all those in need of his mercy.
