Kenneth Green Jr., Age 12, Deceased

Detroit, Michigan - Saturday was a happy day for Kenneth Green Jr. He was celebrating his brother's birthday with family members when a drive by shooting took his life. Kenneth was only 12 years old when he was fatally wounded by a gun shot to the head. Kenneth was a victim of being at the wrong place at the wrong time. Ken was a victim of street violence right outside his home.

Where does war begin and who are its victims? Kenenth's life and death teaches us that war is all around us and begins in men's hearts. Ken was an innocent bystander of other's disrespect of the life and wellness of others. Ken's neighborhood became a war-zone because someone decided to make violence as a means of settling differences.

Lord, help all humankind, nations and peoples of all race and cultures turn to peaceful resolutions to their problems, not war and violence. Grant eternal rest to Kenneth and consolation to His family.

Lord, convert all leaders and nations to seek peaceful means of settling conflicts. Lord, you sent your only Son as our intercessor so that we might have eternal life. Grant us the grace of His perpetual prayers for all life's issues, great or small. Convert every heart so all may be open to peace and the possibility of reconciliation. We entrust all our hopes and pleading prayers for world peace.

Lord. may peace begin in our homes, our hearts and in our world, according to your Divine destiny and Will. We ask this through the intercession our Beloved Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen

Victims of the Colorado Flooding 2013

Colorado - The massive search-and-rescue effort after the recent floods in Colorado has been one of the biggest in state history and the largest in the USA since Hurricane Katrina in 2005 as thousands of stranded people are plucked from swirling floodwaters by helicopters or rumbled out of washed-out neighborhoods by all-terrain military vehicles.

TV and camera-phone images of people hoisted by helicopter from flooded homes have brought eerie comparisons with similar efforts to rescue stranded Gulf Coast residents during Katrina.

The rescues in Colorado were only a fraction of the number in the Gulf 3,465 Coloradoans as of Thursday, compared with 60,000 rescued from rooftops and flooded homes in Katrina's aftermath but the event still tested Colorado's emergency-response system and brought together the assets of several agencies in challenging terrain. Six people are confirmed dead and 140 are missing.

Lord, since the great flood of Noah, You have helped us navigated your Divine Destiny for us through many natural disasters. Be with us now, especially all families in Colorado recovering from the recent flood disaster and all those suffering from disasters due to war, starvation and abuse throughout the world. Help all humankind to conquer adversity with the help of your love and divine consolation.

Lord, help all those experiencing a spiritual breakdown and all those in need of your divine intervention. Lord, bless their prayers and enliven their faith to overcome all adversity. By your grace we are healed! Grant them faith, hope and charity, no matter what! We ask this through the intercession of your Son as we pray:

"Lord, help all those in need of a "faith-lift" and renew their prayer life in times of dire need. Console their hearts, minds and souls and guide them through the difficulties of life, as You did so many times before.

Lord, do not abandon those in most need but make your presence known as You promised through the living Word and the life of your Son: "Come to me all who labor and are heavy burdened and I will give you rest for my yoke is easy and my burden light."

For this we pray: "Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of your dearly Beloved Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world. For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world. ... - from "The Divine Mercy Chaplet". Amen

12 Dead and Eight Wounded, Washington, DC

Washington, DC - Twelve are dead and eight wounded in Washington, DC, as our nation asks how can this happen in one of our most secure Navy facilities? It seems mental illness knows no bounds and can cause havoc in our homes, our nation and the world. Violence begins went one person imposes their unholy will on another.

The gunman in the mass shootings at the Washington Navy Yard, Aaron Alexis, had a history of violent outbursts, was at least twice accused of firing guns in anger and was in the early stages of treatment for serious mental problems.

Lord, please help all those who suffer from irrational rages and other symptoms of mental disease. Send them the help they need to become productive members of society and not violent terrorists. Build up the common good by providing health care and counseling for those with mental dysfunctions.

Lord, life is a fragile balance and we all are in need of your grace and blessing to reach our potential and live a holy good life. Remember all your little ones in most need, especially the poor, the sick and the dying; as well as all those who have no one to pray for them. Lord, remember your mercies and grant all souls your salvation. Let not one soul be lost in sickness or in health, but draw all closer to your beatific vision. Amen

The World Day of Fasting and Prayer for Peace

Vatican City, Italy - "There are so many conflicts in this world which cause me great suffering and worry, but in these days my heart is deeply wounded in particular by what is happening in Syria and anguished by the dramatic developments which are looming, the Holy Father said in his Sunday Angelus message on Sept. 1.

His call for prayer and fasting comes as nations including the United States discuss the possibility of military action following reports that chemical weapons were recently used against civilians in Syria, killing more than 1,400 people.

Those in or near Rome on Sept. 7 are invited to gather in St. Peters Square from 7 p.m. to midnight, while local dioceses and parishes throughout the world are encouraged to hold their own events.

Cardinal Dolan and Bishop Pates asked all U.S. Catholics and people of goodwill to join us in witnessing to the hope we have in our hearts for peace for the Syrian people, uniting themselves to those praying and fasting in Rome.

In their statement, they affirmed that the use of chemical weapons is particularly abhorrent and we urgently pray for the victims of such atrocities and for their loved ones.

Our Lady of the Universe pray for world peace and all those in the Middle East that God's intervention and deliverance will change human hearts and minds so God's perfect will can restore peace and unity throughtout the world in all wartorn countries. Amen
