Pope Francis' Urbi et Orbi Blessing 2014

VATICAN CITY - Pope Francis focused his attention on all those suffering this Christmas, singling out the refugees, hostages and other victims of brutal conflicts in the Middle East, Africa and Ukraine.

The Pope's "Urbi et Orbi" (Latin for "to the city and to the world") Christmas message from St. Peter's Basilica inspired all to pray fervently from the heart for those in most need.

"Truly there are so many tears this Christmas," Pope Francis said in his second Christmas message since becoming Pope.

On a day that brings joy to little ones in much of the world, Pope Francis expressed anguish for children who are victims of violence, including the recent terrorist attack on a Pakistani military school, or those who are trafficked or forced to be soldiers.

Pope Francis began his review of the world's troubled places by recalling the persecution of ancient Christian communities in Iraq and Syria, along with those from other ethnic and religious groups. "May Christmas bring them hope," he said.

The Pope also thanked those courageously helping people infected with Ebola in West Africa. He prayed, too, that those in affluent countries, who are "immersed in worldliness and indifference," will experience a softening of heart.

The themes of his Christmas message echoed those he raised on Christmas Eve, when he placed a phone call to an Iraqi refugee camp and spoke with people forced to flee their homes by ISIS Islamist militants.

Pope Francis told the mostly Christian refugees at the tent camp in Ankawa, a suburb of Irbil in northern Iraq, that they were like Jesus, forced to flee because there was no place for them.

"You're like Jesus on this night, and I bless you and am close to you," Pope Francis told the Iraqis. ... I embrace you all and wish for you a holy Christmas."

During the late-night Christmas Eve Mass in St. Peter's, Pope Francis reflected,"How much the world needs tenderness today!" he said. He emphasized "God's patience, God's closeness, and God's tenderness."

Let us join the Pope in prayer with our tears and prayers for all those suffering this Christmas Season. May the New Year bring God's blessings and resolution to the many problems, which are heavy on our hearts, especially those in most need of God's mercy.

Holy Family of Nazareth, pray for us and draw us close to God always. Amen

The Christ Child's Intercession

Christmas 2014 - Please pray with us as we thank God for the Divine Child Jesus and ask for his intercession during this Holy Season of Christmas.

"Divine Child Jesus, we believe in You; We adore You; and we love You; have mercy on us, sinners.

We've come to this Temple in response to your love. We've come in response to your mercy and grace. We are here because You invited us to come before You and to pour out the cares of our hearts to You since You deeply care for each of us.

We remember Your words to the disciples: Ask and you shall receive. Seek and you shall find. Knock and the door shall be opened. Trusting in your infinite goodness and trusting that You always keep your promise, we now ask this intention which we pray in the silence of our hearts......

Thank you, Divine Child Jesus, for listening attentively to our prayers all the time. We hope that You will ask this before Our Heavenly Father. And, if what we ask for may not be good for our salvation and sanctification, we trust that you will grant us instead what we truly need, so that one day we may be with You for all eternity enjoying that ultimate happiness of Heaven.

Divine Child Jesus, bless and protect us.
Divine Child Jesus, bless and lead us.
Divine Child Jesus, bless and provide for us.

All this we ask through the intercession of your Holy Mother, Mary, and in Your powerful and Most Holy Name, Jesus. Amen"

12 People in South Redondo Beach, CA

South Redondo Beach, CA - There are 12 people injured and 3 dead in the streets of Redondo Beach all because a drunk driver failed to stop for a red light.

The Christmas Pageant at Saint James Parish had just ended and people were walking to their cars. It was a beautiful day and a sacred time; who could know that three people would be dead and 12 injured in the cross walk within moments. It all happened so quickly. No one saw it coming! One driver in an impaired state ran a red light and the fate of so many people would be forever changed. How could this happen?

Lord, help us to be more attentive to the needs of others in our present circumstance, especially while driving. There is such a need for love, care and intentional kindness in our world. Send your healing love on all those recovering from other people's poor decisions, lack of respect for other's welfare or blatant abuse of power. So many people are hurting Lord because of a lack of concern for others.

Help us to take time to love one another. Walk with us as we care for one another. Lord, console families who have lost a loved one, heal the injured and console the afflicted. Embrace those who are devastated with a sense of lost at this time and are searching for hope. Come to your people Lord in light and love and console the down-troddened with your Holy Spirit as we anticipate your incarnation in our lives.

Lord, we pray for the driver who has caused such pain. Grant him forgiveness and healing so he might be converted and respect all life, including his own.

Come, Lord Jesus fill the hearts of your people and enkindle in them the fire of your love. Amen

Pope Francis' Advent Message

VATICAN CITY - The Popes Sunday Angelus message for the start of Advent focused on the importance of hope during the liturgical season dedicated to preparing for Christmas.

For the great human family, it is necessary to renew always the common horizon toward which we are journeying. The horizon of hope! This is the horizon that makes a good journey, Pope Francis said Dec. 1 to the crowds in St. Peters Square.

The time of Advent that we begin again today returns us to the horizon of hope, a hope that does not disappoint because it is founded on the Word of God. A hope that does not disappoint, simply because the Lord never disappoints! He is faithful! the Pope emphasized.

The time of Advent that the Church celebrates in preparation for Christmas, explained the Holy Father, is a new journey of the people of God with Jesus Christ, our Shepherd, who guides us in history towards the completion of the Kingdom of God.

Let us rediscover the beauty of being together along the way: the Church, with her vocation and mission, and the whole of humanity, the people, the civilizations, the cultures, all together on the paths of time.

Lord, we are filled with hope as we begin our Advent journey. Bless us on our way as we prepare for the Incarnation of Christ among us. Helps us as we seek a deeper intimacy with you! Increase our Faith, Hope and Love as we strive to serve you and our neighbor during this holy season. Amen
