U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops' Call

Washington D.C. The U.S. Supreme Court decision on Friday interpreting the U.S. Constitution to require all states to license and recognize same-sex marriage is a tragic error that harms the common good and most vulnerable among us, said Archbishop Joseph E. Kurtz of Louisville, Kentucky, President of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. He continues:

"Regardless of what a narrow majority of the Supreme Court may declare at this moment in history, the nature of the human person and marriage remains unchanged and unchangeable. Just as Roe v. Wade did not settle the question of abortion over forty years ago, Obergefell v. Hodges does not settle the question of marriage today. Neither decision is rooted in the truth, and as a result, both will eventually fail. Today the Court is wrong again. It is profoundly immoral and unjust for the government to declare that two people of the same sex can constitute a marriage.

The unique meaning of marriage as the union of one man and one woman is inscribed in our bodies as male and female. The protection of this meaning is a critical dimension of the integral ecology that Pope Francis has called us to promote. Mandating marriage redefinition across the country is a tragic error that harms the common good and most vulnerable among us, especially children. The law has a duty to support every childs basic right to be raised, where possible, by his or her married mother and father in a stable home.

Jesus Christ, with great love, taught unambiguously that from the beginning marriage is the lifelong union of one man and one woman. As Catholic bishops, we follow our Lord and will continue to teach and to act according to this truth.

I encourage Catholics to move forward with faith, hope, and love: faith in the unchanging truth about marriage, rooted in the immutable nature of the human person and confirmed by divine revelation; hope that these truths will once again prevail in our society, not only by their logic, but by their great beauty and manifest service to the common good; and love for all our neighbors, even those who hate us or would punish us for our faith and moral convictions.

Lastly, I call upon all people of good will to join us in proclaiming the goodness, truth, and beauty of marriage as rightly understood for millennia, and I ask all in positions of power and authority to respect the God-given freedom to seek, live by, and bear witness to the truth."

All Bikers' Safety During Summer

New Harmony, Utah An elderly man was taken to the hospital in critical condition after crashing his bike on Interstate 15, New Harmony, Utah.

A 60 year old man from Arizona was traveling northbound between mile markers 41 and 42 when he appears to have drifted off the freeway, Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Jake Hicks said, and landed in the median.

He seems to have been ejected off his bike and landed at some distance away from the 2011 Yamaha motorcycle, Hicks said.

The man was knocked unconscious by the crash, Hicks said, and was still unconscious when a passerby stopped after seeing the motorcycle in the median.

The man started to wake up around the time UHP troopers made it to the scene, Hicks said, but his condition was still deteriorating.

A Life Flight helicopter was called in to transport the man from the scene, but was called off when the ambulance got there and responders decided to drive him to Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George.

Lord, you know our comings and our goings. Every moment of our lives are direct by your Divine Providence. Please Lord grant us the grace to do your perfect will in all situations and areas of our lives, especially during these summer months of recreation. Refuel us. Heal us and grant us your grace when our life decisions are not wise and left wanting, according to your Divine Wisdom.

After all we are all bikers on God's chosen path! Let us all pray for each other that we make choices that bring us closer and closer to our Lord's destination for us according to His perfect will. May His perfect will be done and not our own. Amen

The Fortnight for Freedom 2015

Washington, DC - The United States Catholic Council of Bishops invites all the faithful to bear witness to the Gospel. Archbishop William E. Lori shared these encouraging words during the opening Mass: "Keeping the spirit of the Gospel means that Catholic institutions are to bear witness in love to the full truth about the human person by providing social, charitable, and educational services in a manner that fully reflects the God-given dignity of the human person."

The Fortnight for Freedom: Freedom to Bear Witness will take place from June 21 to July 4, 2015, a time when our liturgical calendar celebrates a series of great martyrs who remained faithful in the face of persecution by political power such as St. Thomas More and St. John Fisher, St. John the Baptist, SS. Peter and Paul, and the First Martyrs of the Church of Rome. The theme of this year's Fortnight will focus on the "freedom to bear witness" to the truth of the Gospel.

Prayer for the Protection of Religious Liberty

O God our Creator, from your provident hand we have received our right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. You have called us as your people and given us the right and the duty to worship you, the only true God,
and your Son, Jesus Christ. Through the power and working of your Holy Spirit, you call us to live out our faith in the midst of the world, bringing the light and the saving truth of the Gospel to every corner of society.

We ask you to bless us in our vigilance for the gift of religious liberty. Give us the strength of mind and heart to readily defend our freedoms when they are threatened; give us courage in making our voices heard on behalf of the rights of your Church and the freedom of conscience of all people of faith.

Grant, we pray, O heavenly Father, a clear and united voice to all your sons and daughters gathered in your Church in this decisive hour in the history of our nation, so that, with every trial withstood and every danger overcome for the sake of our children, our grandchildren, and all who come after us this great land will always be 'one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.' We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen"

Environmental Awareness According to Pope Francis

Vatican City - The world could see the destruction of entire ecosystems this century without urgent action on climate change, Pope Francis says in a draft of his keenly awaited encyclical on the environment.

In the Italian version of the 192-page document, posted on Monday by the weekly magazine l'Espresso, the Pope again backs scientists who say global warming is mostly man-made and that developed countries have a particular responsibility to stem a trend that will hurt the poor the most.

The Vatican condemned the leak but did not deny the document's authenticity. It later informed veteran journalist Sandro Magister that his media credentials within the Holy See were being suspended indefinitely because the leak had caused "great turmoil". ...

"If the current trend continues, this century could see unheard-of climate change and an unprecedented destruction of ecosystems, with grave consequences for all of us," Francis writes, according to the leaked version.

By making environmental protection a moral imperative, Francis' intervention could spur the world's 1.2 billion Catholics to lobby policymakers on ecology issues.

The Pope has said he wants the document, called "Laudato Si (Be Praised), On the Care of Our Common Home", to be part of the debate at a major U.N. Summit on climate change this year in Paris. He said on Sunday the document was addressed to all people, regardless of religion.

Meanwhile, Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury and spiritual head of the world's 80 million Anglicans, issued a declaration on Tuesday along with representatives from Britain's Catholic, Muslim, Sikh and Jewish communities among others, calling for urgent action to tackle climate change.

"We are faced with a huge challenge. But we are hopeful that the necessary changes can be made - for the sake of all who share this world today - and those who will share it tomorrow," their joint declaration said.

According to the leaked excerpts from the pope's six-chapter document, destined to become a signature document of his papacy, Francis speaks of "symptoms of a breaking point caused by the great speed of change and degradation".

By making environmental protection a moral imperative, Francis' intervention could spur the world's 1.2 billion Catholics to lobby policymakers on ecology issues.

"We are faced with a huge challenge. But we are hopeful that the necessary changes can be made - for the sake of all who share this world today - and those who will share it tomorrow," their joint declaration said.

Let us join the Pope and all world leaders in prayer for God's wisdom, grace and counsel in the preservation and protection of our environment through the intercession of Saint Francis and all the Saints. May God's will be done and all created life protected according to the Lord's Providential Plan for our environment and our own Divine Destiny as the family of God. Amen

Blessings of the Most Sacred Heart

Manhattan Beach, CA - Our Lord keeps us praying throughout our lives, whether it is for the safe delivery of a newborn, the healing of a sick loved one or the reversal of all that is not of God in our lives.

It is only in God's Mercy and by His perfect Will that we can experience all that we need to find His healing love. It is in loving others that we can experience the Divine Presence given to us all in the Eucharist. Throughout our life experiences may we come to know all that is necessary to encounter God's forgiveness and His Mercy. In the end it is love and God's Mercy that make all the difference.

Today is the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and tomorrow is the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Both Feasts encourage us to pray for an increase of faith, hope and charity so we may pray as we ought with all humility and purity for our loved ones and the good of others.

Please pray on this Sacred Feast of our Lord for Pat M. in Manhattan Beach, CA, who over the past few years has had undergone 27 surgeries for a chronic digestive disorder. He was scheduled for surgery number 28 this week when it was decided his lung function was not strong enough to support the surgery. Lord, grant him and his family your healing love and protection during this difficult time.

Lord, in your merciful love and according to the Divine Providence of your Most Sacred Heart, remember those we love, especially those who are suffering from repeated procedures and chronic illnesses. Lord, may You be honored, loved and glorified by all that they experience and may all that they encounter and suffer through the Mercy of God bring healing to others. May all those in most need of your mercy by your Divine Presence give you glory now and forever. Amen

Lord, in your Mercy remember Pat suffering from a long range digestive problem.

Lord in your Mercy, remember all the sick, the poor and the dying, may your perfect will be done in their lives now and forever.

Most Sacred heart of Jesus pray for us.

Immaculate Heart of Mary, intercede for us.

Oh, Blood and Water, which gush forth from the heart of Jesus, as a Fount of Mercy for us, we trust in You. Amen

Lord, remember the sick, the homeless, the war-torn and the forgotten. May God's merciful love heal those less fortunate and all those who have asked our praters. Amen

Most Sacred heart of Jesus we adore, we bless you and give you honor and glory now and forever. Amen

Corpus Christi Blessings

Feast of Corpus Christi - Let us celebrate the presence of God in the world on this special Feast of Corpus Christi and give thanks for our many blessings. Let us always love, honor and adore God above all else for it is in God that we have our being and live out our divine destiny according to His divine Providence.

Saint Alphonsus Liquori composed the following prayer to be prayed while visiting the Blessed Sacrament.

"My Lord Jesus Christ, for the love which You bear to men, You remain night and day in this Sacrament full of compassion and of love, awaiting, calling, and welcoming all who come to visit You. I believe that You are present in the Sacrament of the Altar: I adore You from the abyss of my nothingness, and I thank You for all the graces which You have bestowed upon me and in particular for having given me Yourself in this Sacrament, for having given me your holy Mother Mary for my advocate, and for having called me to visit You in this chapel. I now salute Your most loving Heart: and this for three ends:
1. In thanksgiving for this great gift;
2. To make amends to You for all the outrages which You receive in this Sacrament from all Your enemies;
3. I intend by this visit to adore You in all the places on earth in which You are the least revered and the most abandoned.

My Jesus, I love You with all my heart. I grieve for having so many times offended Your infinite goodness. I promise with Your grace never more to offend You in the future.
Now, miserable and unworthy though I be, I consecrate myself to You without reserve;
I give You my entire will, my affections, my desires, and all that I possess. From now on dispose of me and of all that I have as You please. All that I ask of You and desire is Your holy love, final perseverance, and the perfect accomplishment of Your will. I recommend to You the souls in purgatory; but especially those who had the greatest devotion to the most Blessed Sacrament and to the Blessed Virgin Mary. I also recommend to You all poor sinners.

My dear Savior, I unite all my affections with the affections of Your most loving Heart; and I offer them, thus united, to Your eternal Father, and beseech Him in Your name to vouchsafe, for Your love, to accept them. Amen"

Safe Passage for All Travelers

Los Angeles, CA - A 7 year old girl who was struck by a vehicle at Los Angeles International Airport remains listed in critical condition.

A preliminary investigation revealed a 67-year-old male driver of a 2015 Porshe struck a 7-year-old female pedestrian who was standing on the curb at the terminal with family members. The vehicle then jumped the curb, struck a luggage cart, and smashed into the stucco wall of a utility room at the terminal, which is a hub for United Airlines.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the young girl was transported to a hospital for treatment of a cracked skull and bleeding in her brain. She remains listed in critical condition.

Authorities said the driver of the Porsche and his passenger were transported for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, and were listed in good condition.

According to L.A. City Fire spokesperson Brian Humphrey, the young girl is the daughter of an airline employee.

Sgt Roy Ceja of the LAPD shared that all indications seem to point to the driver mistaking the gas pedal for the brake in the vehicle when he was dropping off a passenger at Terminal 7, United Airlines.

Lord, bless all travelers and keep them safe. Inspire all drivers to drive with care and respect for all life. We ask this through the intercession of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

"O Heart of Love,
I put all my trust in You.
For I fear all things
from my own weakness,
but I hope for all things
from Your goodness,"

Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque pray for us.
