All Souls Past and Present

All Souls Day - Prayer to Our Suffering Savior for the Holy Souls in Purgatory

"O most sweet Jesus, through the bloody sweat which Thou didst suffer in the Garden of Gethsemane, have mercy on these Blessed Souls. Have mercy on them.
R. Have mercy on them, O Lord.

O most sweet Jesus, through the pains which Thou didst suffer during Thy most cruel scourging, have mercy on them.
R. Have mercy on them, O Lord.

O most sweet Jesus, through the pains which Thou didst suffer in Thy most painful crowning with thorns, have mercy on them.
R. Have mercy on them, O Lord.

O most sweet Jesus, through the pains which Thou didst suffer in carrying Thy cross to Calvary, have mercy on them.
R. Have mercy on them, O Lord.

O most sweet Jesus, through the pains which Thou didst suffer during Thy most cruel Crucifixion, have mercy on them.
R. Have mercy on them, O Lord.

O most sweet Jesus, through the pains which Thou didst suffer in Thy most bitter agony on the Cross, have mercy on them.
R. Have mercy on them, O Lord.

O most sweet Jesus, through the immense pain which Thou didst suffer in breathing forth Thy Blessed Soul, have mercy on them.
R. Have mercy on them, O Lord.

(Recommend yourself to the Souls in Purgatory and mention your intentions here)

Blessed Souls, I have prayed for thee; I entreat thee, who are so dear to God, and who are secure of never losing Him, to pray for me a miserable sinner, who is in danger of being damned, and of losing God forever. Amen." - Saint Alphonsus De Liguori

All Missing Persons

Phoenix, AZ - The state of Arizona is raising awareness of all missing persons by inviting all those with missing loved ones to gather in prayer and share with local police their story and the disposition of their cases this week.

South Carolina Flood Victims

Columbia, South Carolina - Residents in South Carolina's low country were being warned that water from days of flooding across the state was moving in their direction, and it was going to have major impacts.

Much of the state has begun cleanup efforts after days of disastrous flooding, but as that water flowed downstream and toward the coast, some residents were still being told to evacuate from their homes as floodwaters rose Friday morning. For example:

Charleston County Sheriff's Office urged residents in low-lying areas along the Edisto and Santee rivers to evacuate.

Roads and bridges remain closed.

Interstate 95 remains closed from Exit 119 to 132.

Death toll currently stands at 17 in South Carolina.

Two people arrested for looting damaged homes in Richland County.

IRS has also warned residents to look out for scammers; do not give Social Security numbers or credit card/bank account information to anyone.

Lord, we lift up all those who are recovering from any natural disasters, especially residents in south Carolina. Bless all relief efforts in progress and provide healing for all those suffering from loss and discouragement. Through the intercession of all saints and angels we pray for all those suffering this day: "Jesus, we trust in you!."
Amen

Kimberly Smith Crash Victim

Dallas, Texas - An Irving woman was robbed by a man she thought was helping her after she turned her car over on Highway 114 this weekend.

Kimberly Smith crashed about 7 a.m. Sunday after being cut off by another driver on the highway near Belt Line Road.

Kimberly, who was not seriously injured, managed to crawl out of her totaled Ford Focus and waved down another driver in a red pickup for help. The man wasnt very helpful, however.

"I ended up having my wallet stolen by someone who I thought was a good Samaritan," Smith told NBC5.

Irving police spokesman James McLellan said investigators are working to find the suspect, but the description police received is too vague to give them a strong lead.

"We're working through a couple things to see if we can get a good look at what happened," McLellan said. "Right now, we're trying to see if any TxDOT cameras got anything."

McLellan said Irving police hope the circulation of the story on local news outlets will help generate some leads or tips for them to follow.

Lord, raise up true Good Samaritans to help those in most need of your mercy. May your healing presence continue to pervade the world as we witness your many miracles throughout the world.

Jesus, we trust in you.
Our Lady of the Rosary, pray for us and deliver us.
Holy Trinity, three in one, you are our life and our home. Amen

The Success of the Synod on Family Life

Rome, Italy - It was not surprising that Pope Francis called on government leaders at the United Nations to "do everything possible to ensure that all can have the minimum spiritual and material means needed to live in dignity and to create and support a family." For Pope Francis, the essential material and spiritual goods include: "housing, dignified and properly remunerated employment, adequate food and drinking water; religious freedom and, more generally, spiritual freedom and education" and other civil rights.

Likewise to the U.S. Congress, Pope Francis stressed the need to support and encourage families. He briefly noted that "Fundamental relationships are being called into question, as is the very basis of marriage and the family," but quickly focused "attention to those family members who are the most vulnerable, the young," who are "trapped in a hopeless maze of violence, abuse and despair."

Pope Francis is concerned that so many young people are unable or unwilling to start families. He sees some young people pressured "not to start a family, because they lack possibilities for the future," while others are presented "with so many options that they too are dissuaded from starting a family."

There is also a spiritual component that Francis continually brings up. Again speaking to the American bishops, he calls on them "to feed God's family with Christ." He wants the church to be "a humble home, a family fire which attracts men and women through the attractive light and warmth of love."

But it was in Philadelphia where Pope Francis spoke most eloquently about the family. In the vigil of prayer he said, "The family is the great blessing, the great gift of this 'God with us' (Emmanuel) who did not want to abandon us to the solitude of a life without others, without challenges, without a home."

"God does not dream by himself," the Pope said, "he tries to do everything 'with us'. His dream constantly comes true in the dreams of many couples who work to make their life that of a family."

"That is why the family is the living symbol of the loving plan of which the Father once dreamed," he continued. "To want to form a family is to resolve to be a part of God's dream, to choose to dream with him, to want to build with him, to join him in this saga of building a world where no one will feel alone, unwanted or homeless."

Let us pray for the success of the Synod on the Family in Rome. May the Holy Spirit guide and lead the Bishops as they address the many issues and concerns of family life throughout the world.

Holy Family of Nazareth, pray for all families especially those in most need of healing and mercy. Amen

A Deeper Charity for All

Philadelphia, PA - In Pope Francis' recent visit to the United States, he encouraged all families to a deeper level of charity encouraging all to focus on Truth, Beauty and Goodness in our daily interactions with one another. We thank God for the Holy Father's wisdom and ask for the grace to move each day toward a greater level of charity for all. We ask our guardian angel's intercession for an increase of faith, hope and love so we might be more like Christ in our daily encounters with one another.

Saint Francis' expressed this longing for sanctity in his prayer "Canticle of the Sun".

Lord, make me a channel of thy peace,
that where there is hatred, I may bring love;
that where there is wrong, I may bring the spirit of forgiveness;
that where there is discord, I may bring harmony;
that where there is error, I may bring truth;
that where there is doubt, I may bring faith;
that where there is despair, I may bring hope;
that where there are shadows, I may bring light;
that where there is sadness, I may bring joy.
Lord, grant that I may seek rather to
comfort than to be comforted;
to understand, than to be understood;
to love, than to be loved.
For it is by self-forgetting that one finds.
It is by forgiving that one is forgiven.
It is by dying that one awakens to Eternal Life."
